Last week Hudson and I went shopping for a birthday gift for Keith. I told Hudson "we're going to get Daddy a new shirt" and Hudson announced "red." At the first store, Hudson was adamant about wanting to get Keith a red shirt and in fact saw one he wanted me to buy, but I didn't like it so I resisted. At the second store, I showed him every red shirt there was and Hudson said "no like that one" for every shirt. I chose two blue shirts to buy and from his stroller Hudson disapprovingly announced "no like those ones." So on to the final store. We walked in and Hudson immediately fell in love with an orange t-shirt. I was quite sure Keith wouldn't like it, but Hudson was literally hugging it on the rack and when I found the right size and passed it to him, Hudson cradled it the whole time we were in the store. So we bought it, thinking Keith could exchange it later, which we did earlier this week, but not before taking a picture.
I thought Hudson's opinions would be limited when it came time to wrapping the gift, but I was wrong. He rejected every gift bag I showed him and chose some blue wrapping paper instead. As I was wrapping he found some animal paper he wanted over top. And then he put on three green bows and two red "bows" which were actually just rolls of ribbon on a cardboard roll. It was quite the gift....but it was all Hudson.
