New Developments

There have been a lot of new developments at our house recently.

At a local kids swap a few weeks ago I picked up an outdoor water table.  Hudson LOVES it and wants to play with it all the time.  Unfortunately it is still rainy and cold weather here many days so he's only gotten a few chances.  The other day he told me "Mom, I want to play water table, it's not too cold."  Clearly he was already anticipating what I'd say when he asked.
Now that she's six months old, Hailey had her first crack at solid foods.  She was terrified, it seems.  But she looked very cute in her new bib.
Hailey has also been working on sitting up.  She can sit for a few seconds unassisted and a bit longer if she is propped up with pillows.

Not a new development, but Hailey sure loves her Daddy.  Lately she really enjoys reaching for his face and glasses.

She also loves taking a bath.  She is a very good splasher and I often end up with very wet clothes.
I got Hailey out of bed yesterday to discover that during the night she had somehow gotten her leg out of her sleeper....and all of the snaps were still done up.  She's an escape artist, just like her brother was.

Hudson ate his lunch on the bench by the backdoor earlier this week, watching Keith do some power washing in the back yard.  But he was Dad and Keith was Papa.  There are a lot of identity changes around our house these days.
There is nothing sweeter than little Hailey all cozy and fast asleep.  She is now sleeping without her swaddle and she prefers to sleep on her tummy with her knees tucked in and her bum up in the air.
Hudson looks equally as sweet all cozy in his bed, surrounded by animals and blankets.  Most nights it's surprising there is room for him in the bed.

This picture may also be the last documentation of Hudson with his soother.  On Sunday we honestly could not find his soother before bedtime.  We searched everywhere.  We asked him if he knew where it was and he told us "Papa hid it."  This seemed unlikely since my Dad was in Kelowna, but when Hudson had to go to bed without his soother he seemed satisfied that he couldn't have it since Papa had hidden it.  Since Sunday we have found the soother (in our bedsheets) but we haven't given it back to him.  He has now slept three nights without it.  For a few weeks Keith and I have been plotting how we could take it away from him for good and in the end Hudson did it himself.  He has, in true Hudson weirdness, replaced the soother with two wrist rattles designed for infants, but those won't lead to the orthodontist fees that prolonged soother usage could.
