Hudson Turns Seven

Today Hudson turned seven! It's hard to believe that the little boy we held in our arms such a short time ago is now so big and funny and clever.
It's always hard to think of gifts for Hudson, since he continues to be so full of imagination, constantly making his own games. We got him a flip scoreboard and timer to enhance the games of football and basketball he plays around the house. And Hailey got him a small plastic trophy she picked out herself, to go to the winners of his games.
Hailey also wanted in on the photo shoot.
A Seahawks nightlight from Texas was a big hit.
He also got a scooter, which he rode to Tim Hortons for supper tonight.

This past weekend he celebrated his birthday with a party at Captain Kids, an indoor playcentre.

In other news, last week was Hudson's 100th day of grade one and all the kids in his class were to dress as if they were 100 years old. He was unwilling to wear a tie or suspenders, but he did agree to gray hair spray and lens-less glasses.
The same day, Reese and Holly came over to spend the day with Hailey. The girls did tons of playing, colouring, imagining and eating, but I only took pictures of them curled up to watch a morning show and an afternoon show.
Hudson continues to be ridiculously creative. One morning when Hailey was at school but Hudson wasn't, he insisted I work with him on creating his own Jeoparday game. 50 questions in categories like "Big Islands" and "Cousins" and "Football." It took hours but he loved it.
Hailey is VERY into princesses. She often likes to be referred to as the princess she is dressed up as (here, it's Rapunzel) and for me to be the male counterpart.
Hudson has decided to eat pancakes again, as long as they're called nutella-cakes and have a bit of nutella on top.
Yesterday we had a special visit from Grammy and Great Grandpa Deaver (he's 93!). It was so special to have Grandpa at our house. Hailey was especially excited for the visit, making him a nametag for dinner and wanting to sit next to him.
He brought Hudson a birthday gift - a hand-me-down model John Deere tractor.
And here is Hailey a few weeks ago after her preschool Valentine's Day party. All dressed up with her loot organized into piles on the floor. As part of the party they showed parents a few dances they had learned. She was the prettiest girl at the ball.
