Cultus Lake & Annual "Camping" Trip

We spent a week at home in early July, playing with friends, reading books and enjoying the warm weather. Hailey and her friend Norah LOVE to do crafts together so one afternoon I set up the easel and paints in the backyard.
Both kids are working on a "summer reading bingo" chart. Each box lists a different way to read (read outside, read in a blanket fort). The kids are diligently working on completing the whole bingo chart to earn a slurpee. Here they are reading in their bathing suits.

We took our annual trip to Cultus Lake. This year Papa, Grandma, Aunty Sara, Uncle Tom and baby Sawyer joined us. We went to the Adventure Park. Both kids got night rider passes so they could go on an unlimited number of rides - and they sure got their money's worth out of the pass!
Their favourite ride was the swings.

This was the second time the kids got to see Sawyer - the first being right after he was born. Hudson was thrilled to be wearing matching shirts with Sawyer. He was also very interested in everything Sawyer was doing, often commenting on how cute he was. When Saywer left to go home Hudson announced to those of us remaining "let's play a game where we all say the cutest thing Sawyer did."
We had morning coffee down by the lake. The kids were quick to tell me they didn't like coffee but they could have hot chocolate.
Hailey was also very enamoured with Sawyer. One day she announced that she really wanted to push him in the dolphin swing at the playground. She knew he would like it, she said, because he had sharks on his bathing suit. She got to push him in the stroller on the way there as well as in the swings. She was thrilled!
Then she wanted to ride in the dolphin swing too :)
In addition to beach time, my parents did lots of playing and colouring.
The kids also went to the Cultus Lake Waterpark while we were away, with Uncle Tom, Keith and the Teeter boys. They'd won passes as part of Rachel's Ride for Rwanda. When we got home, they got to work drawing their own waterslides.

This past weekend we went to Lynnwood, WA to meet up with good friends from university. Typically we have camped with these friends each summer, but this summer we met at someone's home in order to cut down on travel time for some of the guests.
The kids all played so nicely together, much of the time being spent swimming in the pool, jumping on the trampoline, playing baseball and colouring.
We enlisted Hudson's help to get a picture of the adults. The first take is above. After a few tries he got the one below. When it comes to photography, you get what you pay for I guess.
And here are the kids lined up in order of age.
