Gettin' Ready for the Big Day

Our family spent last week in Kelowna preparing for and celebrating my sister Sara's wedding to Tom Longman.  It was amazing Okanagan weather while we were there, much needed by me after a very un-summery summer in Langley this year.

A few nights before the wedding we went for a family meal at DJ's, a Mexican restaurant and one of my family's favourite spots to eat in Kelowna.  While we were there Hudson fell in love with the little fish pond and learned the words "water" and "fishy."
And then we went home to my parents' house where Sara & Tom opened their wedding gift from all of us - an espresso maker (or at least a picture of the one we ordered for them) and all of the needed supplies.
While we were all busy preparing for the wedding, Hudson was busy with work of his own.  One morning my parents turned the outside hose on to a very low drip for Hudson and he spent a long time filling up his bucket, dumping it out (often onto himself) and then filling his bucket back up again.
After playing that game for some time he was wet so Keith took off his clothes, wrapped him up in a towel, and popped him into the wagon.  Keith started pulling Hudson around the backyard, which prompted Hudson to start waving at us as he went by, looking a little bit like someone on a float in a parade.
And then came the funnest game of all, where Keith would pull Hudson in the wagon under the clothesline, causing Hudson's face to run into the beach towel that was hanging up to dry.  Hudson LOVED this game and started saying "gen" which we think is his version of again.

One morning we spent time with all of my Kroeker aunts, uncles and cousins at my Gramma's house and Hudson was treated to a game of "pull me around the yard in the boating tube" by my cousins.  He loved this game almost as much as the wagon/towel game.

And of course we had to find some time to spend at the beach!  Last summer Hudson liked the water, and as an Okanagan girl this delighted me.  This summer he enjoyed sitting on the sand near the shore playing with sand and water, often holding out his watering can and whining until someone would fill it up for him again.  And while at the beach we saw ducks, which prompted Hudson to learn the work "guck."
Not pictured, but also a part of our time in Kelowna, was a lot of wedding decorating, wedding un-decorating, wedding planning and wedding worrying.  But more on the big day still to come...
