Last week we spent time with Keith's family - half the week at Whistler and half the week at Keith's parents' house near Seattle. It was a special trip because we celebrated Momma Reed's 60th birthday with ziplining at Whistler (her choice!) and Hudson and I got to meet our VERY sweet cousin/niece Etta for the first time. Etta is amazing!
In addition to ziplining (which babies, toddlers and pregnant women skipped out on), we also did the Peak to Peak Gondola. Hudson called it a "gongolga" and was more interested in the numbers on the towers than on the spectacular views.
Hudson found lots of games to play with Grandma all around the house we rented at Whistler. He loves to play with Grandma, asking for her first thing in the morning and following her around a bit like a puppy dog being her "helper."
We also did the "hike" at Shannon Falls.
Back in Washington we had the opportunity to connect with both sides of Keith's extended family.
The next generation of Deaver cousins - Heidi & Elise (visiting from Montana), Etta and Hudson - had a play date at the park.
Hudson and Etta were quite fond of each other. Hudson just didn't like it when Etta crowded his space and one time he even said "Etta go over there" when she got too close.
We spent one afternoon at Grandpa Deaver's house where Hudson got introduced to the extensive phone collection that Grandpa has. Hudson especially loved a train phone that he spotted and he put in quite a few fake phone calls to Uncle Tom, Aunty Sara, Grandma and Papa.
Hudson also invented a great new game where he collected rocks, pinecones and leaves from around Grandpa's yard and then threw them in the lake. Grampy supervised to make sure that Hudson didn't end up in the lake, too!
While we played with phones and buckets, Keith and Kevin used Grandpa's garage to do some work on our Corolla.
Etta turns one in September but we gave her an early birthday gift while we were together so we could see her open it. She looks great in her Seahawks cheerleader outfit, which she will likely wear for Halloween...in addition to game days I assume.
She also liked the puzzle Hudson picked out for her. We took Hudson to the store to get Etta a puzzle and showed him all the ones to pick from. He quickly chose this one, which is the same one he has at home.
It was a great trip with family. Next time we're all together, at Christmas, there will be another Reed baby girl in the family.
