Blog Update

We have had a busy fall, full of many adventures.
This fall Hudson started attending Awana at a local church one evening a week. He loves the games and the Bible verse memorization. There are lots of incentives (Awana bucks, badges, jewels, etc) and that's just Hudson's language.
Both kids participated in the Terry Fox Run at school.
We spent a weekend in Kent with Keith's Mom and while we were there we took the kids for a trip to Pike Place Market. We had never taken them there and wanted to show them around. We also really wanted to see the engraved charms that Grammy had purchased for us as a Christmas gift last year. Pike Place Market was undergoing an expansion and there was an opportunity buy engraved charms that now hang in the new part of the Market. A very cool Christmas gift!

Grammy bought Hudson a magic trick at the Market, but Hailey chose to get a bouquet of flowers as her treat. In the weeks since our visit, both kids have been enjoying seeing clips of The Great Wheel or Pike Place Market or guys throwing fish while watching Seattle sports on TV.
We also went for a ride on The Seattle Great Wheel. It was a clear, sunny day and the view was beautiful.

Back at home, we celebrated Thanksgiving last weekend and took a trip to the Apple Barn in Abbotsford with the Teeters.

This fall Hudson opened his first bank account. He was thrilled to deposit most of the money he had in his piggy bank and to have his own bank card. But he wanted cheques! At first he wanted to have his own cheques so he could write cheques to people. But we told him only adults needed cheques. Then he wanted to receive a cheque so he could deposit it. He sweetly asked me if I could give him a cheque for Christmas. So he was delighted when he got a cheque in the mail from Papa a few days later.
Hailey is a very active sleeper. We found her sprawled out like this one night before we went to bed.
The other day Hailey was telling me how she wanted her fruit and I had no idea what she meant, but after some discussion I discovered she wanted me to give her toothpicks and bits of apples and strawberries so she could make mini skewers. I don't know where she got the idea, but now she often wants "strawberries on a stick" for a snack or lunch.
When I take Hudson to Awana, Hailey and Keith have "Dad's night." Last week, inspired by a project at school, Hailey wanted them both to make turkeys from their hands. So they traced their hands and then painted them with watercolours.
Hudson is back to making hideouts with masking tape. This week he has blocked off the alcove by the front door. Only boys are allowed in, except girls who can pay $200. Thankfully he provides fake money to cover this fee. The other afternoon he gave Hailey $200 and she joined him in the hideout and he read her some books.
