Weekend Fun

The Reed3 spent the weekend in Kelowna at Big White and at Ridgewood. I prepared for the trip by helping Hudson make his first valentines. I made construction paper hearts with my family members names on them. Then Hudson crinkled them and ate them before I helped him colour on them. Everyone was happy to get them this weekend.
Before our trip we turned Hudson's carseat to be front facing. He was very intrigued when we put him in the car and spent the first half of our trip happily looking around and checking out his new view.
When we got to Big White Hudson got right to work, crawling toward the TV and grabbing at technological things. In this picture you can see that he pulled the DVD player right off of its shelf, despite the fact that he had little animals nearby to play with instead. My Mom happily watched Hudson on Saturday (thanks Mom!) so Keith and I could spend the day skiing (me) and snowboarding (Keith). It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. I was nervous I might be a little rusty on my skis - I didn't ski at all last year since I was pregnant with Hudson - but I did okay. Hudson enjoyed playing with his aunts, uncles and grandparents at Big White. We didn't, however, enjoy the crying Hudson did both nights. I guess he thinks the ski hill is for all fun and no sleep.
We took Hudson for an evening walk to the village at Big White. My parents brought along the sled I used when I was a baby so Hudson could give it a try. He sat happily in the sled for the whole walk, even though he was quite tired. He even managed to muster the strength to get his mittens off a few times.
We had a visit with my Gramma Kroeker who had a special birthday gift for Hudson. My Gramma is well known for her jean blankets and the receiving of a blanket has turned into a right of passage into the Kroeker clan. When Keith got his blanket as a Christmas gift the year we were engaged, everyone clapped. Hudson got his blanket for his first birthday. Very special, thanks Gramma!
And today my Mom, Laura and I got to go wedding dress shopping with Sara! She looked beautiful in every dress she tried on so choosing "the one" will be difficult. Here we are ready for a day of dress shopping, and standing in order of height for some reason.
And now we enter the last week before Hudson turns one! It's odd to think of what I was doing last year at this time, with little Hudsy still growing in the womb. And now he's out and about, crawling stairs, trying to talk, and stealing our hearts every day!
