Back to Work

This week marked another transition on our home, as I (Melissa) headed back to work part time. A beautiful thing in Canada is a year of maternity leave, which allowed me to be home with Hudson this past year. When it came time to decide what to do next, I was blessed by my wonderful bosses at work who allowed me to come back part time. I am doing my same job (Associate Director of Graduate Admissions at TWU), but just part time. I am in the office 2 days and then working from home an additional 8 hours a week. In May I will be joined by my friend Sharon, who is currently finishing up her maternity leave, who will also be working part time doing the other half of my/our job. When I got home from work yesterday Hudson unpacked my purse for me...and he took a good look at my new iPhone.
So what happens to Hudson while I'm at work? Well, my bosses are very accommodating, but not accommodating enough to let me keep Hudson under my desk. Instead, he is spending two days a week with our friend Ali and her daughters Ella and Juliette. Today was Hudson's first full day with his "girls" as we call them and it went really well, even for me :) He took two good naps, ate his lunch and snacks, and played nicely with the Ella and Juju. As soon as we arrived Ella smiled at Hudson and said "Hudson coat off" so it seems she was ready for him to stay for the day. Ali kept track of Hudson's activities today so I'd know what had happened while I was at work. In true teacher form, she called it his report card and gave him a grade for the day :)
I feel very blessed by my accommodating bosses and by wonderful Sharon who had a baby around the same time as me AND wanted to come back to work part time, and by Ali and her girls who are willing to love and care for Hudson while I'm at work. God has blessed me with a wonderful opportunity to work (which I enjoy) AND to be with my boy (which I love).

In other news, Hudson continues to love TV. His most recent thing is to stand right up at the coffee table with his arms crossed and his head resting on his arms, watching whatever is on TV. We have to be careful to keep the TV off when he's around or he'll stop playing and watch anything.

He has also taken to eating Keith's belt. He is my son but I cannot explain this, except to attribute it to teething.
