Post 200

It seems like we should do something important for our 200th post, but I'll stick to the usual - the comings and goings of our funny little boy.

Hudson and I went to Uncle Ryan and Aunty Laura's house for dinner on Saturday night while Keith was at the church mens' retreat. Hudson happily invented a new game - microwave blocks. The game goes like this: pick up block, open microwave door, put in block, look at block, close microwave door, wait 1-2 seconds, open door, look at block, take out block, close microwave door, repeat from start. He did this for a VERY long time. Then we went on a walk to the gas station near R&L's house to buy some candies. What did Hudson find while we were there? A microwave of course! He delightedly opened and closed it until we were ready to go.

In other news, doesn't he look so old and cute in his shorts and flip flops.
Breaking News: Hudson is finally using a sippy cup. It took me months of "passively" offering it to him, trying different types of sippy cups and enticing him with watered down juice. But on Monday he finally did it. Now he just needs to get better at swallowing the juice he sucks up so that his shirt doesn't get all wet.
Lately Hudson has been slowing down long enough to let us read him a few books here and there. He likes to snuggle right in. He also likes to pretend to feed himself whenever he finds a spoon.

Tonight Keith was out at a golf tournament so I let Hudson watch a show while I was cooking dinner. He LOVES his Baby Einstein movies (or The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot on TV) and insists on standing right at the TV to watch them. We have also given him his own remote (without batteries) that he carries around with him and sometimes points at the TV while he pushes buttons. In the bottom picture he's gripping the remote.

For dinner we had smoothies and egg sandwiches. I decided that, since Hudson could use a straw with his sippy cup perhaps he could also use a straw for his smoothie. Hudson had a different interpretation of "drinking with a straw" and rather just dipped the straw in the cup and then took it out and sucked it off. He was SO happy with himself.
Then he tried to drink it from the cup himself. Missed his mouth. Big mess.
Then he slapped his hands in the big mess, making an even bigger mess on himself, the floor and me.
So I got changed, Hudson got changed, and then he watched some more Baby Einstein while I cleaned up the mess.
I think Hudson is a bit like his Momma in this picture, since I often stand with one foot up against my other leg when I am cooking or doing my hair. Awkward, but I like it. And it seems Hudson does too.
