Camping and other July Happenings

Earlier this week we went camping, our first camping trip since August 2012 when Hailey was still in-womb. We camped at Coldspring Campground in Manning Park with our friends the Teeters.
Hailey was thrilled to spend much of her time "babysitting" Lexie, entertaining her and keeping her out of the road and the river.
Both kids were excited to be sleeping in a tent. (In other news, Hudson recently decided, on his own, to stop sucking his thumb, choosing to sleep with Curious George instead. Wahoo!)
The boys spent lots of time exploring and going on "adventures" in the woods and around the creek near our campsite.
All the kids enjoyed colouring.

Watching Keith & Mike build fires and pop jiffy pop were also big hits. Note Keith's unique technique for popping jiffy pop, trying to keep his arms from getting too close to the fire.
On the right is Hudson the early riser, dressed in warm clothes and ready to explore the quiet campground in the morning. On the left is Hudson the tired camper, exhausted from a long day but still committed to roasting marshmallows.

Also in July Hudson and Hailey attended Summer Camp (VBS) at a local church. This inspired HOURS of Hudson playing Stuffy VBS in his room.
It also inspired the composition of "The Stuffy Bible."
Hailey loves to colour, anywhere, anytime. She also loves to lay on the couch and watch a show while eating a snack.
This summer the kids have discovered slurpees, which they want every day but I let them have once in a while on very hot days.
And a few weeks ago we said goodbye to our water table, passing it along to our friends the Lafleurs who have two young boys. Hudson spent HOURS driving cars around in that table, so it was sad for me to see it go, but I'm excited for it to be loved by some new little boys.
