Okanagan Summer

The kids and I kicked off the summer with a trip to Kelowna. We had a great trip that included all of our favourite things - family, sun and beach.

We spent lots of time playing around Ridgewood. Hudson found a set of mismatched bowling pins and got right to work setting up teams and keeping score. My Mom also set-up a "play area" for him underneath the playhouse where Hudson happily drove cars and ate snacks, also creating a competition somehow.
Reese and Holly were also at Ridgewood for part of the time we were there and it was cute to see all 4 kids playing together in the yard and at the beach. The girls kept busy in the playhouse and caring for babies.

The kids loved playing in the sand and the lake. Hudson declared on the first day that he would not be going in the lake at all, but by the next day was up to his chest splashing with delight. Hailey was equally very brave, floating around with Reese in their life jackets.
My Mom got a great deal on a pair of kayaks at a garage sale this spring so we took them out on the lake. Everyone loved them.
One day my Dad and I went fishing at a lake off the Coquihalla where he keeps a canoe. I hadn't been fishing since before Hudson was born and I had a great time. We caught tons of fish and brought a few home.
When we got back from fishing we realized one of my Dad's crocs was missing. Since we drive on the same highway to get back to the lower mainland, on the way home the kids and I pulled off at the lake and found the croc sitting on the side of the road. The kids thought this was amazing.
And the kids got a bug catcher and on the first day caught a butterfly. Both kids were in love and Hailey even brought it to the playground with her. Eventually we let it go so it wouldn't die and throughout the week they caught a few other bugs, too.
