The Reed 3 just returned from a weekend of camping at Larrabe State Park near Bellingham with our good friends Joel, Emily & Ethan, and Ben, Jenny & their new dog Whit. We had a great time and it turns out that Hudson is, quite literally, a happy camper. He ate, slept and played as happily, at times even more happily, as at home. We'd been fearful of rain or a crying baby at night, neither of which happened. Instead we had a great time visiting, eating, playing games, walking and napping.
Some Hudson highlights...

He was quite happy to sit cuddled up in a camping chair while we cooked or ate dinner.

Best thing we brought on the trip...the sungli. Hudson hung there cheerfully around the campsite and fell asleep in there a few times too.

He told Jenny all about the heroes from Star Wars.

Emily loaned us the cuddly clothes Ethan wore to keep warm on our camping trip last summer. There is something about ears on a hood that make a baby irresistibly cute.

Hudson in his little camping bed. We brought along his pack n play and he seemed quite at home. Typically for his naps and at night Hudson rolls onto his side and sucks his thumb. He was bundled up on the trip so he couldn't seem to roll himself to his side and rather slept in exactly this position the whole night.
Some Group Highlights...

The boys played Carcassonne....the girls napped.

Beautiful View

Emily brought along the boys' beloved rum cake - really quite the feat for a camping trip. Ben wanted cake. He got a plate, he put it down on the table, he put cake on the plate. He picked up the plate and it was sticky on the bottom, realized he had put the plate on Hudson's rice cereal tarnished bib, he felt upset. Jenny encouraged him to wipe off the bottom of his plate, Ben tipped the plate over to wipe it off and dumped his cake on the ground. He picked up his plate and his cake and exclaimed "now I have a sticky plate and hairy cake...what good is that?"

Annual Group Picture - next year we'll have another Lentz baby to add to the group.
